Background: Ginger spent six decades of her life as a ‘begging’ elephant. It is suspected that she lost her vision due to neglect and malnutrition. Ginger was forced to walk amidst noisy processions, which caused immense stress to her sensory organs. While her face and trunk would be covered in bright chalk paint, it would hide the wounds she sustained by ankush (bullhook) prods. Ginger was finally rescued from this brutal life by Wildlife SOS, and is now receiving the care and medical treatment she needs at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital Campus. | READ MORE ABOUT GINGER
